Dormers Wells High School students set for top universities

Year 13 A level and BTEC students at Dormers Wells High School (DWHS) in Southall are celebrating their exam results with a number of students going to prestigious universities across the UK to fulfil their educational dreams.

The school reported 38% of all grades were at A*-B with 95% of students gaining A*-E and 100% of the school’s Health and Social Care BTEC students achieving distinction.

Roisin Walsh, headteacher, said: “I am delighted that our A level and BTEC students have done so well again this year. Such achievement doesn’t happen by chance and is indicative of the dedication and commitment of both students and staff. Once again, our students will be heading off to embark on first-class university courses and apprenticeships and we wish them all the very best.”

Among those achieving high A level grades and where they are off to are:

Yalesan Thayalan achieved straight A* in computing, further mathematics, mathematics and physics and will be reading mathematics at Imperial College London.

Madeline Pepple gained A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and is going to Aston University to study Medicine.

Iqra Ahmed will be reading Law at LSE having achieved A* in sociology, history and A in psychology.

Smita Sharma achieved outstanding results and is going to read medicine at Exeter University.

Arjan Marway achieved ABB in Computing, Mathematics and Physics and will read Mechanical Engineering at Queen Mary University.

Dev Kumar achieved AAC in computing, mathematics and physics and will be joining KPMG to complete at his apprenticeship in accounting.
