The senior deputy head of Ealing’s St Benedict’s School has won a National Association for Pastoral Care in Education (NAPCE) award for his work and initiatives to better pastoral care.
At the NAPCE Awards 2022, Luke Ramsden, who has been senior deputy head at St Benedict’s since 2016, scooped the Raising Awareness about Pastoral Care award. The award is given to someone who: “through their actions have raised awareness about pastoral care or pastoral issues and encouraged positive improvements for the benefit of young people”.
He said: “My wonderful colleagues at St Benedict’s have worked hard to ensure our school has an excellent reputation for pastoral care. It is a privilege to be able to share that and work in collaboration with many other organisations and schools.”
It’s not the first time Mr Ramsden has won a NAPCE Award, previously for 2021, he collected Pastoral Leader of the Year.
Outside of school, Mr Ramsden talks regularly about pastoral care at conferences. He is also involved with the Department of Education where he is a member of the designated safeguarding lead focus group.
