Get snapping with free photography workshop in Hanwell

A free three week photography workshop at Hanwell Community Library is taking place this month to help locals learn and get more out of photography.

The workshop, which will cover cameras and smartphones, runs from 6pm on 8 March, 15 March and 22 March 2023. The first two sessions will be held at the library and the last session will be a night time shoot in London or within Ealing.

Local resident, Damian Walker will be giving his expert guidance. Mr Walker has been snapping away since the early 1980s and has photographed models and celebrities as well as Prime Minister David Cameron and member of the Royal Family, Princess Anne.

Mr Walker, who also does travel photography, will be providing first hand knowledge on essential best practices to help take better snaps on camera and phone.

Describing what will be on offer, Mr Walker said: “Explore the simple technicalities of taking better pictures before you press the shutter, on your camera or your phone. We will discuss the where, the when and how to get the best out of your subject. We will touch on, but won’t explore, the post editing with all the available software.”

He added: “I will concentrate on people in photography, but will cover other subjects like landscape, and will do a location shoot, where photographers are also the subject of the pictures. This might be a night time shoot in London or a local shoot in Ealing, depending what the consensus is of the group.”
