After an extensive selection process, St Augustine’s Priory has announced that Christine Macallister, its current deputy head academic, is to become its next headteacher from April 2023 and replaces Sarah Raffray.
Mrs Macallister joined the the independent Catholic school for girls aged 3-18 in 2013 following a career which saw her travel the world working in business and finance for international companies including Disney and Verizon.
In a statement, the school, which is located just off Hanger Lane, said: “In her role here as deputy head academic, she has been responsible for successfully leading the academic life of the school during one of the most turbulent periods of recent history, the COVID pandemic.”
Mrs Macallister is looking forward to taking up her new role. She said: “I am committed to this extraordinary school and ensuring that it continues to build on its inspirational mission and purpose.”
She added: “I strongly believe that the girls in our school are given a unique opportunity to thrive in a Catholic community which encourages personal and spiritual growth, as well as academic excellence – the springboard for them to change the world.”
Outside of academic work, Mrs Macallister is a talented musician and an active member of the school’s music department.
