Notting Hill & Ealing Junior School hosts eco summit

Notting Hill & Ealing Junior School has hosted its first eco summit with over 90 local primary school children from Durston House, Edward Betham Church of England, Stanhope, Selborne, North Ealing, Oaklands, Derwentwater and Holy Family Catholic primary schools joining them.

The event saw the pupils divided into groups and take part in a number of sustainability workshops during the morning. They listened to a talk about rewilding and the Ealing Beaver Project by Citizen Zoo and took part in a forum which discussed ways to combat climate change.

Mrs Cassar, NHEHS’s environment and sustainability lead who organised the summit said: “Having the opportunity to bring together our local community to share our knowledge and ideas surrounding climate action has been the highlight of my year.”

Mrs Cassar added: “The girls and boys of Ealing have truly shown that they are an inspiration for our future and I am excited to see where they go next. The Eco Summit highlighted that we have a wonderful local group of students and teachers that share a vision of environmental education in conjunction with taking meaningful action for our natural world.”

Natalie Bayliss, green school network coordinator for ActForEaling commented: “The summit was a fabulous interactive experience that brought together pupils from multiple schools across the borough. The pupils learned about the challenges of climate change but more importantly discovered the power of collaboration in creating a greener and more sustainable future. This is exactly the kind of solution focused activity that will benefit all communities in Ealing. An inspiring event for all.”
