This week has been a pivotal moment for students across the country as they celebrate their graduation and for Ealing’s University of West London (UWL), more than 2000 students have been gathering at Twickenham Stadium in south west London from Wednesday to today (29 July 2022) to take part in their graduation.
As well as its famous campus in St Mary’s Road in Ealing, the UWL also has a campus in Brentford as well as teaching nursing and midwifery courses in Reading.
Across the three days there has been 11 ceremonies and 10 honorary degrees along with thousands of photographs and selfies being taken by the students and their proud friends and family attending.
Among those getting honorary degrees in recognition of their work and achievements include Paralympian and TV broadcaster, Ade Adepitan MBE, BBC journalist and broadcaster Julian Worricker, and founder of the MOBO awards, Kanya King MBE.
Professor Peter John CBE, vice-chancellor of UWL, said: “Graduation is about celebrating our students’ success, which has only been possible with a considerable commitment of time, energy and personal sacrifice on their part. It is also a time to reflect just how far they have come on their educational journey that has equipped them with the knowledge, skills and expertise that will set them up for their future career.”
Professor John also thanks parents, friends and other family members for attending the ceremonies and supporting the students and the UWL over recent years while they have studying.
