26 parks in Ealing get prestigious Green Flag Award for second year running

For the second year running, Ealing has been given 26 Green Flag Awards for its parks across the borough.

The Green Flag Awards, run by Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards well managed parks and green spaces across the country. Among the criteria it looks for are parks and spaces that are well managed and meet the needs of the local communities they serve.

In 2022, Ealing had 24 awards and increased this to 26 in 2023. Of those 26, 23 are owned and managed by the council, two are looked after by local community groups and one – Gunnersbury Park – is jointly run with Hounslow Council.

Councillor Blerina Hashani, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for thriving communities said: “We are thrilled to have so many Green Flag parks in our borough again this year. A massive thank you to the Greener Ealing team and all the volunteers who help maintain the high standard of our award-winning parks, allowing everyone to enjoy their beauty year in year out.’’

Councillor Peter Mason, leader of Ealing Council said: “Parks and open spaces are vital for our health and wellbeing and play a vital role in tackling climate change. That’s why we are committed to opening 10 more parks and rewilding 800,00 square metres in the coming years – the first of which, Pear Tree Park, opened over a week ago.”
