Building a new forest in Perivale

Residents across Ealing are being invited to take part to help create London’s newest forest on the site of the former Perivale Park Golf Course.

Ealing Council, which closed the golf course in June 2024 after 100 years, has teamed up with environmental charity Letting Grow to create the forest at Pear Tree Park which covers three acres. The forest will be home to 5000 trees of all types including beech, oak, cherry, rowan and hawthorn.

The forest is part of an initiative to re-wild hundreds of acres of land across Ealing and its seven towns and during this month residents can help with various events going on and be part of it.

Letting Grow says it will supply the spades for people to use and all ages are welcome to take part.

Ross Walker, chief executive of Letting Grow said: “This is a fantastic chance for everyone to get outdoors and reconnect with nature and make an impact by creating a new urban forest from scratch. Working in nature has been shown to give a real people are real psychological boost. And it’s a great way to learn and for teams to bond through cooperation.”

Mr Walker added: “It will help the fight against climate change, it will cool the local environment and it will boost bio diversity in the area.”
