Volunteers in Ealing joined a global day of action on Saturday (20 September 2025) as part of World Clean Up Day, with community groups and residents targeting litter hotspots in the borough.
Led locally by Who Is Hussain? London, a social justice charity, and supported by LAGER Can (Litter Action Group for Ealing Residents), the clean-up covered streets and green spaces including Witham Road, Bedford Road, Kirchen Road and Dean Gardens, all of which have long suffered from fly-tipping and street waste. Together with efforts in Harrow, Brent and Westminster, volunteers across London collected a total of more than 130 bags of rubbish.

Bassam Mahfouz, London Assembly member for Ealing and Hillingdon, joined volunteers in West Ealing and praised their efforts. In a video message, he said: “I care passionately about our environment and about our street scene. We have got to take pride in our local area and that is why I am joining Who Is Hussain today who are doing a street clean up in Kirchin Road, West Ealing.”
Aysha Raza, councillor for Central Greenford, also backed the initiative, emphasising the importance of protecting communities and local wildlife.
Kumail Jaffer, London team lead for Who Is Hussain?, said the Ealing clean-up was “a resounding success and a testament to community spirit”.
He added that the fight against litter must continue: “Keeping our streets clean is an everyday civic and patriotic duty.”
