Residents are calling on Ealing Council to consider reducing the number of events it allows to be put on at Walpole Park following concerns that the grounds have been “trashed” by the number of people gathering there and vehicles driving on it.
Over the summer a series of events including comedy and music festivals took place but residents are worried by the state of the grounds and fear for the future of the park and the impact large scale events have on it.

@LondonFoodFinds commented: “So true, no children are playing or having picnics there now and it’s the summer holidays. A vast area has been trashed.”

EALING.NEWS spoke to a grandmother who was at the park on Sunday (13 August 2023) with her two grandchildren. She said: “I know they have been having events for years here but perhaps they should limit the number of events. As anyone can see, the grounds are really badly impacted. It is going to take a very long time for the grounds to get back to how they should be.”
Speaking to EALING.NEWS, a council spokesperson said: “The condition of the ground is related to the recent Ealing Festival events in Walpole Park over the summer. This festival has been going on every summer since 1984. Unfortunately, the very wet summer has meant that vehicles have caused the damage to the ground.”
The spokesperson added: “Once the ground has dried out enough the team will ensure that the area is reinstated, which happens every year after the event. This work will be carried out as soon as the weather allows.”
