TV host and Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden was a surprise guest at the annual London North-West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) Staff Excellence Awards at Wembley Stadium.
LNWH, which runs Ealing Hospital, Central Middlesex, Northwick Park and St Mark’s Hospital, saw more than 600 staff attend the ceremony which attracted more than 900 nominations including patients and members of the public naming staff for the shortlist.
Ms Holden praised the work of NHS workers and how much they had helped her own family after being invited to the event by trust chief executive Pippa Nightingale. Pippa assisted in the birth of one of Amanda’s children when she worked as a midwife.
Pippa Nightingale, LNWH Chief Executive, said: “Staff work incredibly hard and every time I have asked more of people they have delivered without fail. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and I just want to say a big thank you to everyone.”
Two highlights of the night included Central Middlesex Hospital which was given a special award for its response to an incident earlier this year when an assailant attacked and injured several people in the hospital grounds.
