First year anniversary of cancer support service for Ealing residents

A cancer awareness project which helps Ealing residents is celebrating its first anniversary.

Launched on 11 June 2023 by Ealing and Hounslow Community Voluntary Service in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, it has supported thousands of people across the borough and its seven towns.  Activities it offers include monthly coffee mornings as well as advice and guidance on health as well as financial matters.

Ana Patricia Izquierdo Suarez, the Macmillan community connector for Ealing said “I am so proud of what we have achieved in the first year of the project. In my role, I get people talking openly about cancer. I visit community and faith centres to give talks on common types of cancer, including the signs and symptoms, risk factors and early screening.”

Ms Suarez added: “I have one-to-one meetings with people living with cancer and let them know about the different types of support that Macmillan offers. Thank you to all the communities that have welcomed us and I would encourage any community groups that would be interested in hearing what we offer to contact me.”

Help and advice for anyone with cancer can be found on the on the Macmillan website or call 0808 808 00 00.
