Hospital bosses in Ealing appeal for people to only attend A&E if there is an emergency as strikes start this week

As junior doctors prepare to stage their next round of strikes starting from 7am on 20 December 2023 and lasting until 23 December 2023, hospital bosses from Ealing are appealing for people to only come into A&E if there is an emergency.

Dr Jon Baker, chief medical officer at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) said: “Strikes will affect all inpatient and outpatient services at Central Middlesex Hospital, Ealing Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital, and St. Mark’s Hospital.”

Dr Maker added: “We are rescheduling many appointments and planned procedures. If we need to change your appointment, we will send you a new date as soon as possible. If you don’t hear from us, please come to your appointment as usual.”

Dr Baker added: “Anyone coming into A&E can expect a longer than normal wait. Pharmacies or primary care are well equipped to advise and manage on a
wide range of conditions we often see in the emergency department. We’re always here to care for you in a life-threatening emergency.”

Hospital bosses said people should still ring 999 in an emergency but call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk for help if it isn’t.
