Unpaid carers in Ealing needing some time for themselves are being offered short breaks in a new free service being run by Ealing Carers Partnership.
The partnership between Ealing and Hounslow CVS, Carers Trust Hillingdon and Harlington Hospice is funded by Ealing Council and NW London Integrated Care System and aims to help the 28,000 unpaid carers in the borough with their needs.
The breaks can be used to give the unpaid carer some time to focus on their needs or other activities they wish to do while they are out.
A trained professional will be assigned to look after the person being cared for while their carer is out.
Speaking to EALING.NEWS, Ealing Carers Partnership carers services manager, Karen Bonnick said: “We provide two to four hours per week breaks for the unpaid carer. This allows the carer to get a break from their caring role to go do what they need to get done such as shopping, leisure activity or take time to relax.”
Ms Bonnick added: “We provide a fully trained carer support worker who can stay within the home or out in the community to carry out activities and we believe in providing the same team members week after week to ensure a relationship is built with the family.”
