Ealing Council hails progress on new Acton housing schemes

Ealing residents are set to benefit from hundreds of homes, as two major developments in Acton reach key milestones.

At the Steyne estate, minutes from Acton High Street, Ealing Council leaders marked the “topping out” of three new buildings that will deliver 188 homes on land between Lexden Road and Steyne Road.

More than a third will be designed for older residents and let at London Affordable Rent, with a further 90 offered through shared ownership to help people onto the property ladder. The project, backed by £16m from the Greater London Authority’s Homes for Londoners programme, is due to complete in autumn 2026. Ealing Council’s leader, Councillor Peter Mason, and deputy leader, Councillor Louise Brett, attended the ceremony.

Councillor Mason, said: “These new homes mark a major step in tackling the shortage of genuinely affordable housing in our borough, giving local people the security and stability they need for a better quality of life.”

A second topping out took place at The Portal in North Acton, where Block B will provide 63 two and three-bedroom affordable apartments within a wider 350-home development including commercial space. Led by contractor O’Shea and development manager PLACE, completion is slated for summer 2027, with 35% of homes designated affordable.

Shital Manro, the council’s cabinet member for good growth and new homes, said: “London’s housing crisis is stark – more than 7,500 local families are in urgent need of a safe, affordable place to call home. These developments in Acton reflect our commitment to inclusive living, sustainable design, and community wellbeing.”
