Nominations now open for prestigious 2023 Ealing Civic Society’s annual awards which recognise building and environmental projects

Entries are now open for the prestigious 2023 Ealing Civic Society’s annual awards and residents across Ealing are being asked to take part by nominating new buildings and environmental projects in the borough.

The awards which aim to “recognise and encourage building and environmental projects that make a noteworthy contribution to the community in the London Borough of Ealing” have been running since 1989.

Last year saw among those commended ActOne Cinema in Acton, Three Crossrail stations (Ealing Broadway Station, Acton Mainline and West Ealing Station) and The Tree House in West Ealing.

Over the past 33 years, more than 100 projects from across all towns in Ealing have won or been commended.

Among those recognised include Ealing Magistrates Court (West Ealing, 1991),  Tesco Hoover building (Perivale, 1993), West Acton Primary School (Acton, 1996), Willow Tree Primary School (Northolt, 2000) Sikh Gurdwara Temple (Southall, 2003), Ravenor Primary School (Greenford, 2005), Northala Fields (Northolt, 2008), St Benedict’s School (Ealing, 2009),  Pitzhanger Manor (Ealiing, 2019), Hanwell Station (Hanwell, 2021).

In announcing the awards, Ealing Civic Society said: “We are currently on the lookout for projects which we can consider for the 2023 Award.  If you know of any buildings that you think would make good entries, please email the Society chair@ealingcivicsociety.org or give the owner or architect a copy of the nomination form.  The deadline for entries is 11 September 2023. Judging will take place on 1 October 2023.  The Award Ceremony will be on 17 October 2023 at Open Ealing in Dickens Yard.”
