Rosemary House new homes ‘topping out’ ceremony takes place at The Green Quarter in Southall

A ‘topping out’ ceremony to celebrate progress being made for Rosemary House at Southall’s The Green Quarter development has taken place.

The last beam was placed onto Rosemary House to mark the latest phase of development in the area.

As part of phase 3 of the development, of which Rosemary House makes up a part of it, there will be 645 homes of which 249 of those will be offered as affordable properties through Southern Housing.

According to Berkeley Group, the developers behind The Green Quarter, currently more than 600 homes have been built of which around 50% are affordable.

Among those attending the event were Southall West Councillor Surinder Jassal, Ealing Council neighbourhood coordinator Evelyn Gloyn and representatives from Berkeley and Southern Housing.

Rosemary House is the third phase of the development of The Green Quarter which has been built on land that was once known as Southall Gasworks.

Richard White, executive director of development at Southern Housing said: “We have been delighted to work with Berkeley on the affordable homes element of what has been heralded as one of the most ambitious regeneration sites in the UK, here in Southall. The site will provide not only 249 much needed new affordable homes in the area but also a real sense of community and connectivity with green space at its heart. We are therefore looking forward to being not only a good landlord to our residents in Ealing, but a committed strategic partner to the Council over the long-term.”

Piers Clanford, chairman of Berkeley St George and St Joseph added: “It was fantastic to see additional affordable homes move a step closer and testament to our partnership with Southern Housing here in West London. At Berkeley, we regenerate brownfield land to create beautiful, successful places where communities thrive, we’re committed to delivering diverse developments that can be accessed by people from a variety of backgrounds and The Green Quarter is no different.”

Mr Clanford added: “I look forward to hearing about the experiences of the residents at Rosemary House when it completes in a year’s time. Thank you to Ealing Council and the Greater London Authority for their support on this, and to everyone who attended today’s event and celebrated this milestone with us and Southern Housing.”
