Ealing runner Sophia Davis secured a silver medal in the under-13 girls’ race at the London Youth Games cross country, held at Parliament Hill Fields last Saturday (8 November 2025).
Sophia completed the 2km course in 7 minutes and 49 seconds, finishing second overall in a field representing 32 London boroughs. Her performance helped secure Ealing a strong early result at the opening event of the 2025–26 Games season.
More than 1,500 young athletes took part across Hampstead Heath, creating what organisers described as a “brilliant atmosphere” for one of London’s most celebrated youth sporting fixtures.
The London Youth Games has long been a stepping stone for Britain’s top athletes, with past competitors including Mo Farah, Alex Yee and Sam Reardon. Farah said: “I remember running at the London Youth Games when I was younger. Sport has the power to bring people together from all boroughs and hopefully there is some talent competing this year who can go on to great success in the future.”
Speaking to EALING.NEWS, Ealing Council councillor Blerina Hashani, cabinet member for thriving communities, said: “Massive congratulations to Sophia Davis for the fantastic achievement of coming second and getting a silver medal at the London Youth Games Cross Country – a testament to her talent and dedication.”
Councillor Hashani added: “Congrats too to the rest of the Ealing team who ran so well. I’d also like to extend my thanks to all the volunteers from Ealing, Southall, and Middlesex athletics club for their expert support at the event.”
