In a joint operation on Friday night (4 November 2022) between the police and Ealing Council, 79 parking tickets have been given out to drivers for parking their vehicles on the pavement in Southall Broadway.
Locals welcomed the presence of parking enforcement in Southall but say it should be happening more regularly to deter those from being inconsiderate to others.
According to one resident who saw tickets being issued: “It’s great to finally see some action being taken. We’ve been highlighting this to the Council for years about how bad and dangerous the parking is. They need to do this on a regular basis and not just on the Broadway but also on side streets as well.”
The resident added: “The Council should also tell us are these parking offenders locals or people coming from out of town and out of the borough. That way they can plan a proper campaign on how to tackle this problem to reduce the occurrence of parking offenders.”
In a tweet, Southall Broadway Police said: “The team were out on The Broadway last night on joint patrols in partnership with @EalingCouncil parking enforcement. 79 tickets were issued for parking on the pavement and not in marked bays. Please be considerate to other residents and visitors to #Southall when parking”.
