Ealing Parks Foundation grows with four new trustees to take it to “its next level”

Ealing Parks Foundation (EPF), which supports the parks and green spaces across the Borough’s seven towns, has announced four new trustees joining its existing team which it says “will help take the Foundation to its next level”.

Since forming in January 2020, the Foundation, which works alongside Ealing Council, seeks to ensure that Ealing’s 140 parks and green spaces grow and thrive.

The Foundation says the new trustees will help with its “ambitious plans” as part of the Foundation’s development and the work it does across Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale and Southall.

EPF is also London’s first Parks Foundation and become a registered charity in July 2021.

It says it was “established in answer to the diminishing amount of public funding available for the enhancement of Ealing’s parks & green spaces. By fundraising we will support communities use of parks, encourage volunteering, protect & enhance wildlife, heritage and biodiversity and through this have a positive influence on the well-being of the people of Ealing.”

Cathy Swift, chair of LAGER Can – the Litter Action Group for Ealing Residents, is among the four new trustees which also includes Peter Hutchison, James Woodman and Anne Uwechia.

Foundation chair Sonja Garsvo said: ” I am delighted to strengthen the existing team of trustees with the addition of Peter, Cathy, James and Anne.  EPF has gone from strength to strength since its inception in January 2020 and the additions of these outstanding individuals will help take the Foundation to its next level, working alongside the existing dedicated trustees Jane Fernley, Jane Newman and Paul Carter. “

She added: “We have ambitious plans for 2023 and beyond and the new trustees join us  at an exciting time in the development of the Foundation.  Watch this space.”
