Emergency services join forces for community roadshow in Acton

Acton Fire Station will host an Emergency Response Roadshow next week, bringing together fire, police, ambulance and Ealing Council teams for a day of demonstrations, displays and community activities designed to boost local resilience and show how the borough is prepared for a range of emergency situations.

The free event takes place on 13 September at Acton Fire Station, 27 Gunnersbury Lane, London W3 8EA, from 12pm to 4pm. Visitors will be able to explore emergency vehicles, watch live drills and learn practical safety skills from frontline workers. Attendance is free, but places must be booked in advance.

Shaan Motaleb, deputy head of emergency management at Ealing Council, told EALING.NEWS the roadshow aims to “strengthen local resilience and preparedness for emergencies by showcasing the vital work of emergency services and Ealing Council departments. This event will educate the public on emergency preparedness, provide hands-on experiences with equipment, and foster collaboration between the community and first responders.”

Among the highlights will be the London Ambulance Service teaching CPR, the London Fire Brigade demonstrating rescue gear and fire engines, the council’s Highways team using gulley suckers, Street Services showcasing waste clean-up vehicles, and Cadent Gas providing carbon monoxide awareness.

Mr Motaleb added: “Attendees will gain practical knowledge on emergency preparedness, interact with emergency services, explore equipment and vehicles, and enjoy live demonstrations. It’s an engaging, educational, and family-friendly event with free burgers and drinks provided.”

Councillor Jasbir Anand, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for tackling crime and antisocial behaviour, said: “By bringing together our emergency services and the community in an engaging and interactive way, we’re building stronger connections and a safer borough for everyone.”

The mayor of Ealing, Councillor Anthony Kelly, who will also be attending, added: “This event is part of Ealing Council’s commitment to building community resilience and a better understanding between residents and emergency services.”
