February 2024 screening and community updates from ActOne cinema in Acton

Acton’s ActOne’s February 2024 programming is packed with great films and appealing community events.

Current showings include All Of Us Strangers, The Holdovers and Poor Things with American Fiction and The Zone of Interest joining in from 9 February 2024.

We start with a special weekend double bill – on 3 January at 3:45pm we will host a screening of a wild documentary SCALA!!! and a live Q&A with co-directors Jane Giles and Ali Catterall. The host of the evening will be Nigel Smith, be ready for some extraordinary footage and a crazy but heartfelt tribute to the icon of independent cinema.

On 4 February at 2:15pm, we will be showing RUDY and holding a live Q&A with the BAFTA-nominated director Shona Auerbach. Set in the heart of rural England, this is a poignant insight into love, loss and moving on.

We will host our very first board games evening on 7 February at 6:00pm. Free entry, all enthusiasts and all levels are welcome!

Tickets for Valentine’s Specials on 14 February are on sale now, and you can watch: a wonderful 1934 classic It Happened One Night, a sensual delight The Taste of Things or a celebration of the life and music of Bob Marley: One Love. Book now and get bundle deals on Prosecco or chocolate. Couples, singles and groups of friends, everyone is welcome to join us for Valentine’s Day.

On 15 February at 6:00pm will belong to Sound & Vision and their Short Film Open Mic. An excellent, entertaining event that brings creatives and audiences together, to discover a range of new short films of all genres, followed by networking drinks amongst filmmakers.

Round 2 of Mend & Natter on 21 February between 2:00pm and 4:00pm will teach you how to mend your clothes. No need to book, just show up at our lounge with the clothes you wish to save.

National Theatre fans will gather around on 22 February at 7:00pm for a sold-out showing of NT Live: VANYA with sensational Andrew Scott. There is an additional screening of VANYA

ActOne’s popular Jazz Night will see Trent Pieterse Trio on 24 February at 8:00pm at our lounge – free entry, smooth drinks, great atmosphere.

On 25 February at 2:15pm will see fans of The Ealing Club and its rich musical history – we are delighted to be showing Suburban Steps to Rockland: The Story of The Ealing Club followed by a live Q&A with the director Giorgio Guernier and the producer Alistair Young. As this event sold out, we are pleased to share that there is the same event scheduled for 10 March at 2:15pm, including the live Q&A, and tickets are on sale now.

For more theatre, visit us on 27 February at 7:30pm to see Hamlet, including a pre-recorded Q&A with inimitable Sir Ian McKellen and the director Sean Mathias.

We will close another busy month on 29 February with our wonderful Open Mic Night. Sign up from 7:30pm, performances start at 8:00pm on a first come, first served basis.
