High street bakery chain Greggs has closed its long-standing branch at 43 The Broadway in Southall, ending over two decades of serving its famous sausage rolls, sandwiches, hot drinks, snacks and sweet treats to the local community.
While Greggs has declined to comment on the reason for the closure, which took place last week (7 July 2025), a spokesperson for the company told EALING.NEWS that staff from the shuttered store have been relocated to other branches.
The closure of the branch, after more than two decades on The Broadway, has drawn disappointment from Southall residents as well as the local Member of Parliament.
One resident posted on X to express their shock at the news, writing: “I will miss Greggs & their yum yums. I wore their sponsorship football shirt in the olde days. Don’t leave Southall cos of the unlicensed street food vendors, hawkers all making a mess on Southall Broadway.”
Ealing Southall MP Deirdre Costigan also posted on Facebook and X to share her reaction to the closure.

She wrote: “Greggs, say it isn’t so! Just heard you’re closing a store in my patch and we’ll miss you dearly. Your vegan sausage roll got me through more than a few long days, and the Mexican bean wrap? A thing of beauty. Surely Southall’s not off the menu for good?”
