LNWH to hold event at Central Middlesex Hospital on sickle cell disease and how it can better support people with it

London North West University Healthcare (LNWH) which runs health services in Ealing is to hold a public event at Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal for patients and community members who are affected by sickle cell disease.

According to the Trust, it has been making improvements to its sickle cell service by adding additional specialist staff including a new consultant and nurse consultant as well as having a dedicated area for admissions to its haematology ward.

It has also starting to offer Crizanlizumab, a new antibody treatment for those who have sickle cell disease.

The special event on 27 October 2022 is being held in partnership with the Sickle Cell Society and LNWH will share proposals on its services as well as listening to the public on how it can be made better.

LNWH Chief Executive Pippa Nightingale said: “It’s vital that we offer truly high quality care and experience for people living with sickle cell in our communities. While we’ve made some important changes already, it’s now time we sit down with our patients and those who use the service to talk about their needs and how we can best meet them. I hope that many of our patients will join us for our engagement event to hear our suggestions and share their views.”

The event will take place between 5:30pm and 7:30pm on 27 October 2022 at the Park Royal Suite, Central Middlesex Hospital.
Those who wish to attend can also email in advance to: lnwh-tr.communications@nhs.net
