In 1985, The Queen came to Ealing when on Thursday, 7 March she opened Ealing Broadway Centre.

Earlier today, EALING.NEWS went back to Ealing Broadway to see what The Queen unveiled and spoke to people there.

One parent taking her son to school told EALING.NEWS: “The Queen did so much for everyone and it’s so nice to know the Queen came to Ealing and people can see it. This is history and a way to show to younger people the relevance The Queen has and to Ealing.”

Stella, who as a child was 10-years-old when The Queen came to give Ealing Broadway Centre it’s Royal opening shared more of her memories. “It was a great day to be here and see the plaque unveiled. I was in the crowd for that, waving banners and enjoying the atmosphere with my parents. It’s funny to think that the bronze horse is right outside Lloyds Bank which is famous for its horses.”

People are also visiting the bronze horse and plaque before they go and sign the Book of Condolence.

A woman from Hanwell said she was coming here first to see the bronze horse and the plaque before going on to sign the Book of Condolence at Ealing Town Hall.  “It’s incredible to think that The Queen was here and I’m walking where The Queen walked.”
