Residents living in North Acton have expressed concerns that one of the main roads in the area, Victoria Road, has had to have temporary traffic lines installed without any work starting immediately.
According to locals, Thames Water dug up part of the road on 21 April 2023 and left signs saying the work will be completed by 27 April 2023, but they say Thames Water only started work on 24 April 2023 and that the work appears done but has not yet been covered over.
One resident told EALING.NEWS: “Where are the workers and what is the point of digging up the road and then leaving it like that without starting the work? This is just the latest example of how we are treated in the area by utility companies and I’m fed up with it.”
They added: “Today (24 April 2023), they’ve done the work but have not covered up the work. Surely that should all be coordinated better instead of expecting residents and those using the roads to be left waiting.”
EALING.NEWS reached out to Thames Water and a spokesperson said: “On Friday 21 April 2023, we responded to reports of a water leak on Victoria Road in North Acton. Our investigations found a section of pipework needed replacing and our engineers will carry out the repair work and road reinstatement over the next couple of days.”
They added: “During this time, the two way traffic lights will remain in place. We are sorry to residents and motorists for any inconvenience caused. Finding and fixing leaks is a top priority, with over 1,300 repairs made each week – that’s one leak every 7.5 minutes.”
