A number of staff from Metro Bank’s internal audit team have spent a day for themselves to see and take part in the work Park Royal-based food rescue charity The Felix Project does.
In a recent survey the charity surveyed West London parents and found 21% of parents are struggling to feed their families on a regular basis while 1 in 10 after paying bills less than £20 a week to spend on food.
Last year (2023), The Felix Project distributed over 1,723,434 meals to residents across Ealing.
During the day, the Metro Bank staff rolled up their sleeves at The Felix Project warehouse and took part in various roles needed including labelling, sorting, packing, collecting and delivering food.
Metro Bank’s director of internal audit, Dipti Kasat said: “It was eye-opening to see how much effort and coordination go into every step of the process.”
Ms Kasat added: “Hunger is a major problem in the world, and witnessing firsthand how The Felix Project tackles this issue by ensuring good food doesn’t go to waste was truly inspiring. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a vital cause and help make a difference in our community.”
