Police and London Fire Brigade investigate Perivale industrial estate fire on Christmas Day

Police and London Fire Brigade continue to investigate a Christmas Day fire that took place at an industrial estate on Walmgate Road in Perivale.

The fire was visible for miles and saw 20 fire engines and 125 firefighters called out to attend. Fire crews from Wembley, Northolt, Ealing, Park Royal and surrounding fire stations attended the incident.

According to the London Fire Brigade, most of the ground floors of the warehouses are alight but there were no reports of any injuries.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Firefighters worked incredibly hard throughout Christmas day to bring the fire under control. Crews remained on site throughout the night and firefighters remain at the scene this morning working to fully extinguish the fire.

“The blaze was producing heavy smoke which was being carried by the wind. We urged people to avoid the area where possible and keep windows and doors closed. Firefighters used a 32-metre and 64-metre turntable ladder at the scene as water towers.”

Roads around the area including Bilton Road were closed while firefighters attend.

Local residents were advised to ensure they kept windows and doors closed.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We are supporting our emergency service colleagues in responding to a fire in Perivale. If you are in the local area, please try and stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.”

The Brigade was initially called at 12:35pm on Christmas Day and the fire was under control by 7:52pm.  During the afternoon more than 40 999 calls were taken concerning the blaze.

The fire is the second in less than a week in Perivale which saw 60 firefighters attend an early morning blaze on 22 December 2023.

The cause of the fire is still not known at this time.
