A man from Southall who lives in sheltered accommodation and has cerebral palsy is developing an online project to unite and bring people together online.
Tarek Mrad, 26 has been working on The International Friendship Group which through What’s App and other social media platforms is allowing people from all backgrounds and cultures to share what he says is a “common goal of fostering friendship and promoting peace”.
Tarek says the group has something for everyone to take part and get involved in. Being online the group allows anyone to contribute.
Among the activities being planned are online game nights, online mentoring program and online cultural festivals where members can showcase their cultures through music, dance, food, and art.
Learning and sharing knowledge is one of the key aims of the group and it says it will also be doing online language exchange programs. Tarek explained: ” The group organises an online language exchange programs where members can learn different languages from each other. The online language exchange programs provide an opportunity for members to learn new languages and improve their communication skills. The programs also promote online cultural exchange and understanding.”
