West Ealing robber sent to prison for 14 years after being traced to stolen lottery scratchcards

A man from West Ealing has been jailed for 14 years following a Metropolitan Police investigation into a series of robberies at supermarkets in west and south-west London. They were able to trace and arrest him after he claimed cash prizes on a batch of stolen lottery scratchcards.

Henderson Domingo, 47, from Kirkfield Close, West Ealing was found guilty at Kingston Crown Court on Friday (8 July 2022) of five robberies, three attempted robberies and one count of possession of a bladed article.

Domingo was caught following detective work into National Lottery scratchcards stolen from a supermarket in Upper Richmond Road on 24 January 2021 and which he tried to claim winnings. Domingo was paid winnings totalling £255 from 27 stolen cards, but officers using CCTV and other investigation methods led to him being identified as a suspect.

Domingo was arrested by police on 25 February 2021 near to Tesco in Northfield Avenue, West Ealing where he was in possession of a knife and in the process of commencing his attempt to rob the supermarket.

After Domingo was arrested, a total of £14,881.09 in cash was recovered from his West Ealing address.

Detective Constable Pippa Bregazzi of the Met’s Flying Squad said: “Mr Domingo will have a considerable period of time in prison to reflect on the distress he has caused staff at the supermarkets he targeted, as well as on his own foolishness and greed. Flying Squad officers continue to tackle robbery offences across the capital. We are determined, resourceful and skilful, and we will use all available tactics to identify and apprehend those who use violence or the threat of violence to commit robberies in London.”
