Deirdre Costigan elected as MP for Ealing Southall

Ealing Labour candidate Deirdre Costigan has been elected as MP for Ealing Southall.  

Ms Costigan, who is also deputy leader of Ealing Council got 23,000 votes beating Conservative candidate Georgie Calle who got 7,207 votes.

The Ealing Southall seat was previously held by Virendra Sharma from 2007 to 2024 when he stood down and Ealing Labour chose Ms Costigan as its candidate. In 2019 Labour had a 16,084 majority over the Conservatives.

Posting on X, Ms Costigan said: “It is a huge honour to have been elected to represent the people of Ealing Southall. I will use my voice in Parliament to stand up for all of my constituents and to always give a voice to the voiceless. Thank you Ealing Southall. I promise to work tirelessly for you.”

Ms Costigan share of the vote was 49.1% which is down 10.6% on 2019.
