Ealing Central and Acton independent candidate Julie Carter on why she wants to become MP

On 4 July 2024, the UK electorate goes to the polls to vote for who they want as their Member of Parliament.

EALING.NEWS has asked all candidates standing in the three Ealing constituencies of Ealing Central and Acton, Ealing North and Ealing Southall 7 questions about who they are, what they hope to deliver and why they want residents to vote for them.

Julie Carter standing as an independent in Ealing Central and Acton answers the 7 questions:

Tell us a bit about yourself, your priorities for the constituency and why you want to be the next member of Parliament for Ealing Central and Acton?
It’s important to be hands on and flexible about local issues that arise. The tired old parties are a thing of the past. As an independent I will be my constituents direct line to parliament presenting pressing local issues.

What motivates you?
Fairness

What is your own personal connection to either Ealing Central and Acton or any other part of the borough?
I live in Chiswick (Southfield ward), attended Ellen Wilkinson (Ealing Grammar), graduated University of West London (TVU), CPE and LPC Law.

What do you consider to be your 5 top political or personal achievements and what impact have they had?
It seems I’m always reinventing and up for a challenge, never resting on my laurels. Always stay current I say!

What do you consider to be the top 5 challenges Ealing Central and Acton faces and how will you as the MP address them?
Reopening local dumps, improving traffic flow, protecting the elderly and vulnerable from fraudsters, investing in technical training for young people and the unemployed.

What do you love about the borough of Ealing?
It’s a well worn cliche, but it’s so green and beautiful, a wonderful backdrop for the culturally diverse population that is Ealing Central and Acton.

How accessible will you be to Ealing Central and Acton residents and how can they get in contact with you now and if elected how will you ensure you are accessible to them in the future?
I will be one phone call away.
