Independent candidate Julie Carter on why she wants to become councillor for South Acton ward

On 10 October 2024, residents in the South Acton ward will take part in a by-election to vote for a new ward councillor.

EALING.NEWS has asked all candidates standing 7 questions about who they are, what they hope to deliver and why they want residents to vote for them.

Julie Carter standing as an independent in South Acton answers the 7 questions:

Tell us a bit about yourself, your priorities for the ward and why you want to be councillor for South Acton?
I’m a long time resident in the borough and I’m ready, willing and able to offer the residents of South Acton a visible councillor, one who will be on site and present to address their needs. As an independent there are no distractions of party politics, simply a determined woman who will be proactive for all resident issues.

What motivates you?
My excellent skills in legal and education degrees, and determination motivate me to pit them to use in assisting the South Acton community.

What is your own personal connection to either South Acton or any other part of the borough?
I live locally and am a life long resident of the borough, state primary and secondary school and uni (Southfield, Chiswick and Ealing Law).

What do you consider to be your 3 top political, work or personal achievements and what impact have they had?
Standing as an independent candidate in the last general election, teaching and tutoring, and school governor during its most challenging times.

What do you consider to be the top 3 challenges South Acton faces and how will you as a councillor address them?
I have already been approached by residents who have expressed the following; Resident parking and transport, road signage to slow down traffic in the school zone. I will also do my best to reopen the Stirling Road recycling centre, for all Ealing residents.

What do you love about South Acton and the borough of Ealing?
The abundance of green spaces and the diversity of cultures.

How accessible will you be to South Acton residents and how can they get in contact with you now and if elected how will you ensure you are accessible to them in the future?
I’ll be full on 24/7. Here’s my email now – Juliecarterllm@yahoo.com. I answer every email immediately.
