Love Island Winner Josh Oyinsan set for Hanwell Town FC return

Hanwell Town FC manager Chris Moore has said striker Josh Oyinsan, who won ITV’s Love Island Series 11 on Monday (29 July 2024), is keen to return to action for the Geordies.

Mr Oyinsan, 29, scored three goals for Moore’s after joining late in the season and helped secure Hanwell’s position in step 3 of non-league.

The striker was a late addition to the love Island Villa but coupled up with Mimii Ngulube earnt 41% of the public vote to win the popular reality show and its £50,000 prize.

Mr Moore shared his delight for Mr Oyinsan’s success on Love Island: “We are all delighted for Josh, and it has had the whole club gripped over the last few weeks. I spoke to Josh yesterday and sent him all the warm well wishes from the club and told him he’s missed by us all, but we are all over the moon for him.”

While the 29-year-old has been in the Villa, Hanwell have been preparing for an important 2024/25 campaign, where they look to avoid another relegation battle.

Mr Moore says that Mr Oyinsan is looking forward to joining his teammates but recognises that winning Love Island may cause the strikers schedule to fill up. “He’s keen to get back in the black and white stripes of Hanwell Town and see the boys but is also aware that he is going to be extremely busy. So, it’s a case of watch this space and hopefully we will see him soon.”

Hanwell have had an action-packed preseason so far, their most recent friendly being a 3-1 loss to a QPR XI.

The Geordies conclude their preparations on Saturday 3rd August when they welcome Slough Town to the Powerday Stadium.
