Scouts and families from 25th Ealing have come together to help local charity Ealing Xmas Dinner wrap presents and hampers for its annual Xmas dinner care leavers event on Christmas Day.
Ealing Xmas Dinner which celebrates its 4th year is run entirely by volunteers who have come together to give young care leavers, aged 18-25, a very special Christmas Day. It is part of The Christmas Dinners, an annual event created by writer and care leaver Lemn Sissay OBE.
Stopping by to see the scouts and also help out were Ealing North MP James Murray and Ealing Central & Acton MP Dr Rupa Huq.
Mr Murray said: “It’s so warming that these gifts are being wrapped here tonight and will be opened next week by a young adult”.
Dr Huq commented: “What a lovely example of the community coming together to show they care”.
Nisha Patel from 25th Ealing Scouts said: “As Scouts, we always want to do our bit for the community. It’s part of our Scout promise to help other people – and you can really feel that the scouts , even our youngest Beavers are really having a great time, what better way for them and their families to get into the Christmas Spirit.
Pam Phull from Ealing Xmas Dinner welcomed the support being offered by young people and said: “It’s our 4th year running these dinners and the second time that the Scouts are helping. We are all volunteers here and all live locally – and what you can see here, is the community showing up for young adults to help them create memories.”
