Northolt Air Cadets recognised for their achievements at the Jack Petchey Foundation Awards

Air Cadets from Middlesex-Wing in Northolt have been recognised for their achievements at the Jack Petchey Foundation Awards which were presented at Greenford Hall.

The prestigious event saw 87 young people aged 11-25 from across Ealing being recognised for their contributions to their unit.

Winners collected medallions and certificates from the Foundation and a grant of £300 was also given to be spent for the benefit of their unit.

Speaking to EALING.NEWS, Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Hitesh Tailor who attended the event said: “I was honoured to be asked to say a few words to introduce the event and to present the awards to the many deserving young people. I was struck by the motivation and inspirational messages of the Jack Petchey team that encourages young people to achieve their goals whatever their fears. ”

Among those collecting an award was Daniel Wong aged 15 who attends Air Cadets Middlesex Wing 14F Northolt.

Daniel was awarded the Jack Petchey Achievement Award for his highly advanced leadership and being a role model to other young people.

Daniel said: “I was delighted to win this award today. It means a lot that my actions are recognised.”

The young leader revealed that he will spend his £300 Jack Petchey Achievement Award grant on adventure training equipment for his unit.

As well as the young people collecting awards, four adults collected leader awards for their ability to motivate young people and received a medallion and a certificate.

Ealing has received over £982,000 from the Jack Petchey Foundation since funding started.

Sir Jack Petchey CBE, 98, said: “I am passionate about our awards scheme which enables young people to be recognised, valued and rewarded for their achievements and positive contributions to society.”
