125 firefighters tackle Christmas Day blaze in Perivale

A Christmas Day fire at an industrial estate on Walmgate Road in Perivale that is visible for miles has seen twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters called out to attend. Fire crews from Wembley, Northolt, Ealing, Park Royal and surrounding fire stations are attending the incident.

According to the London Fire Brigade, most of the ground floors of the warehouses are alight.

Roads around the area including Bilton Road remain closed while firefighters attend.

London Fire Brigade station commander Chloe Van Dop who is at the incident said: “Firefighters are working incredibly hard this Christmas day at the scene of the fire and are making steady progress. They are likely to be on scene throughout the evening. The blaze is producing heavy smoke which is being carried by the wind. Please avoid the area where possible and keep windows and doors closed.”

Station commander Van Dop added: “Firefighters are using a 32-metre and 64-metre turntable ladder at the scene.”

Local residents are being advised to ensure they keep windows and doors closed.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We are supporting our emergency service colleagues in responding to a fire in Perivale. If you are in the local area, please try and stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.”

The Brigade was initially called at 12:35pm and during the afternoon more than 40 999 calls were taken concerning the blaze.

The fire is the second in less than a week in Perivale which saw 60 firefighters attend an early morning blaze on 22 December 2023.
