Former leader of the Labour Party and veteran politician Neil Kinnock joined with local party activists to help launch the Ealing Central and Acton re-election campaign for Dr Rupa Huq on Saturday (1 June 2024).
The constituency has been represented by Dr Rupa Huq since 2015 when she took on the previous Conservative MP Angie Bray and won by 274 votes.
At the last election in 2019, Dr Huq had a majority of 13,300 over the Conservatives.
She was also joined by former Conservative MP Mark Logan who recently announced he would be voting for Labour on the 4 July 2024 general election as well as Virendra Sharma who is standing down as MP for Ealing Southall.
Posting on X, Dr Huq said: “Thank you so much for your first public speech as a @UKLabour supporter Mark for @EalingLabour crowd. Pleased to call you my friend and give you a warm welcome to the Labour family. And honoured to have the good Lord – Neil Kinnock in Acton today.”
Mr Logan posted on X: “What a candidate ! @RupaHuq What a speech ! NeilKinnock @VirendraSharma all the best as Virendra steps down”.
