Ealing Council plans to develop a cultural manifesto for Ealing arts and creative sectors

Ealing Council is inviting people across Ealing to help shape its plans for creativity, culture and the arts in the borough by developing a cultural manifesto which it is working alongside a group of 16 individuals and organisations representing creative arts in Ealing.

The plan involves input by the recently established Culture Task Group with an online consultation open until 19 August 2022 and it hopes to engage across residents, businesses and organisations to help shape it.

“COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on culture and the creative and night-time industries but it has also shown the invaluable contribution that culture can make to revitalise places, support economic recovery and bring connection and support to our communities,” said Councillor Jasbir Anand, cabinet member for thriving communities.

She added: “Together with the Culture Task Group, we will develop an exciting vision and action plan which will promote excellence and accessibility to our arts, culture and heritage offer, and provides growth, resilience and sustainability of our creative economy and skills.”

As well as the online consultation, three events aimed at young people to feedback are being planned to take place in Acton, Greenford and Northolt.

“I encourage everyone to get involved in this consultation” said Councillor Anand. “Whether you take part online or directly through the local interactive activity, your ideas and views are very welcome.”

Ealing Council has also set up the Ealing Arts & Culture Network which is open to anyone living or working in the Ealing creative sector. The group meets a couple of times a year and features guest speakers as well as providing guidance on jobs and funding for projects.
