Hanwell-based community broadcaster Westside Radio 89.6FM has launched its annual Christmas Toy Appeal to provide toys for staying in local hospitals over Christmas.
Hospitals include neighbouring Hillingdon, Northwick Park and West Middlesex which have children’s wards.
The appeal, which runs until 16 December 2022, is for new and unwrapped toys only. Due to hygienic reasons, no cuddly toys will be accepted and donations can be made by dropping them off directly at Westside Radio HQ in Hanwell by appointment.
This is the fifth year Westside Radio has run its appeal.
According to Westside Radio spokesperson Sone Palda, last year was “amazing” and they are looking forward to bringing even more smiles to children who are staying in hospital during the Christmas period this year.
Sone told EALING.NEWS: “We started in 2018 and this is now our 5th year. It seems to get bigger every year.”
Sone added: “We didn’t do a count but let’s say we couldn’t get into our office and barely walk through reception. We were overwhelmed with the response from the community and our partners. It was amazing! We were able to extend our donations to reach a number of children’s charities and a local children’s hospice in addition to the local hospitals.”
The campaign is also supported by a number of local businesses and organisations including the Global Academy, Palda Windows, The Green Quarter – West London, St George, West Ealing BID and Old Priorians Rugby Football Club.
