Ealing Council launches “community hubs” inside four libraries

Ealing Council has set up four community hubs inside existing libraries in the borough where residents who don’t have internet at home can get online access as well as getting help and advice in accessing support services.

The Council says the hubs in Acton, Ealing, Northolt and Southall will help residents to find “support, advice and be shown how to use the web or make applications”

Residents will be able to talk to trained council advisers to help them.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for decent living incomes, said: “At a community hub, you can find out what support you are entitled to, get advice and be shown how to use the web to find information or make applications. You can also find out how to sign up for the council’s My Account service online to make it easier for you to manage your transactions with the council.”

Councillor Mahfouz added: “We want to do everything we can to support our residents through this cost-of-living crisis and making sure there is easy access to council services is just one way we can help.”

Liberal Democrat Councillor Gary Malcolm, leader of the Opposition on Ealing Council told EALING.NEWS: “Liberal Democrats many years ago said that instead of closing facilities the Council should have kept them open and made sure they were useful for residents and providing useful services that they need. I am glad they have listened to us but we need to make sure that if numbers fall that they don’t use that as an excuse to close the hubs.”

The four hubs are open Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and are located at:
Acton Library, Everyone Active, Acton Centre, W3 6NE
Ealing Central Library, Ealing Broadway Shopping centre, W5 5JY
Northolt Library, Church Road, UB5 5AS
Southall Library, The Dominion Centre, UB2 4BQ
