Ealing Council’s second opposition, Ealing Conservatives have confirmed the roles of its councillors for the municipal year 2023-2024.
It follows, recent announcements by first opposition Ealing Liberal Democrats and Ealing Labour who run Ealing Council.
The Conservative councillors continue to be led by Councillor Julian Gallant. Veteran Councillor Anthony Young is confirmed as deputy leader and Councillor Seema Kumar is whip.
In a statement, Councillor Gallant said: “Ealing needs a strong opposition which scrutinises Labour on key areas such as housing, the environment and council services. We are very concerned that Metropolitan Open Land might be de-designated, opening the way to uncontrolled development of our green spaces and that high building zones are being widened.”
Councillor Gallant added: “We will continue to oppose the introduction of unwanted schemes like the LTNS and we’ll be looking carefully at Labour’s actual record of delivery, rather than mere promises, on education, culture and communication.”
The roles of its five councillors as opposition to Ealing Labour are:
Councillor Julian Gallant – Policy, Employment, Transport and Environment
Councillor Anthony Young – Finance and Planning
Councillor Seema Kumar – Business, Crime and Safer Communities
Councillor Gregory Stafford – Public Realm, Children and Education
Councillor Fabio Conti – Health, Wellbeing and Housing
