An annual construction event by developers Countryside and its housing association partner L&Q at the £800m regeneration of Ealing Council’s South Acton Estate has given 42 local students an opportunity to find out more about the construction industry and also get a tour of Acton Gardens currently being built.
This year is the fourth time the event has happened. Students including those from Acton’s Twyford Secondary School and Ealing Alternative Provision in West Ealing along with West Thames College in Feltham were shown the development which when finished will consist of more than 3,400 homes across 52 acres.
The students were able to take part in nine workshops covering various aspects of the construction industry including carpentry, tiling, plumbing, electrical, drylining, bricklaying, formwork, architecture and construction planning.
