A newly established charity to support Hanwell’s St Ann’s School, a secondary special school for students with complex profound to severe learning difficulties, is to hold a fundraising Christmas choir event at Ealing Broadway shopping centre.

St Ann’s Foundation is holding the event on 14 December 2023 from 10.00am to noon.

EALING.NEWS spoke to Kathleen Hau, a trustee of St Ann’s Foundation to find out more.

How many people will be taking part in the event?
There will be 30 staff and students in total from St Ann’s and Elthorne high school.

What will funds raised from it be used for?
St. Ann’s Foundation is dedicated to providing to advance the education to pupils at St Ann’s School in Hanwell. Our aim is to provide facilities and resources that go beyond what is provided by the local education authority, to give students a comprehensive learning experience.

We’re committed to promoting education for students under the age of 25 with profound and complex needs, to help them reach their full potential. By supporting staff and care workers at St. Ann’s School, we ensure that they have the tools and resources needed to provide specialised care and education for our young people.

St Ann’s Foundation relies on the generosity of the public to fund its charity and we need your support. We raise funds through donations, community fundraising and events.

Is this your first ever choir event?  How long have people been practising for?
Our upcoming choir event will be our first major event. Through our recent partnership with Elthorne, also their very first choir event, we aim to raise awareness about St Ann’s school and our dedicated students and staff here in Ealing. Our primary goal is to actively engage with the community and become more involved in various community initiatives.

Our desire is to gain visibility and ensure that everyone recognises the outstanding abilities and talents of our students. We aspire to be included and valued within our community. We Love Christmas at St Ann’s, we have been practising our carols for weeks.

What songs are you planning to sing?
We will be performing some of our absolute favourite carols, that we will be performing on the day will are Rockin’ around the Christmas tree and it’s beginning to look like Christmas.
