A free guided tour starting at North Acton station and visiting local food makers and craftsmen located in Park Royal’s Acton Business Centre and the Oriental Carpet Centre with snacks along the way is taking place on 16 July 2022 from 1pm – 3pm.
The two hour tour, supported by Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC). will be guided by Joanna Dudzinska under the theme “Carpets, Cakes and Torpedoes”.
In promoting the guided tour, organisers Talking & Walking say those taking part can expect some snacking delights along the way as well as the following:
“Starting from North Acton Square ,we will walk along Victoria Road to the Acton Business Centre. The area was once home to a number of larger companies employing hundreds. Now, things are on a much smaller scale. In the business centre we will visit some food businesses, especially bakeries and cake makers. We will try to ask a creative to open their door for us. Then we will visit the Oriental Carpet Centre to see some of the work and the products here. Carpets and rugs are both restored, cleaned and sold on from here. Strange that the building was once home to a company in the aircraft manufacturing business!”
