70 firefighters tackle blaze in Acton High Street

A fire at a disused falafel takeaway on Acton High Street saw ten fire engines and 70 firefighters attend the blaze.

The fire was located in the basement of an end of terraced building, which features the takeaway with flats above. One person left the property before the Brigade arrived, and there are no reports of any injuries.

The incident, which was only doors away from Acton Police Station, saw officers directing members of the public away from the area.

Traffic around the area was diverted with a cordon in place while firefighters attended.

The Brigade was first called at 11:49am and the fire was under control by 1:57pm. Crews from Ealing, Chiswick, Hammersmith and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

Police and the London Fire Brigade are investigating the cause of the fire.
