The preloved free free school uniform shop at Ealing Broadway shopping centre is open again until 13 April 2024 to help families across Ealing get essential items ahead of the new summer term.
More than 1,300 good quality school items were donated by local residents including branded and non-branded school uniform, sportswear, footwear and school bags.
The pop-up shop, which is located next to Flying Tiger, is open from 10am – 4pm with visitors allowed to choose up to four items to help prepare their children for going back to school.
The initiative follows the shopping centre’s first ever preloved uniform shop event last summer where 10,242 school items were donated and over ten days,
2.27 tonnes of clothing were prevented from going to landfill.
Andrew Rollings, centre director at Ealing Broadway, said: “The volume of donations we’ve had from the local community has been incredible, with hundreds of families getting involved. It’s brilliant to see everyone coming together to help those who need it most, all while preventing items going to landfill unnecessarily.”
Mr Rollings added: “We look forward to welcoming families to the pop-up during this week to pick up what they need ahead of the new school term.”
Councillor Kamaljit Nagpal, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, said: “School uniform can be costly if you have one school-age child, and for families who have more than one the costs just go up and up.”
Councillor Nagpal added: “The free school uniform shop was so popular last year, and I thank Ealing Broadway for continuing with organising and hosting this shop – I know that parents, carers, grandparents and others really appreciate the help this provides at this time.”
