Residents ask why Ealing Council hasn’t taken down “faded and tatty” King Charles Coronation bunting in Greenford Broadway

Residents in Greenford have raised concerns that bunting to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, that took place in May 2023, is still up in Greenford Broadway and looking faded and tatty.

While bunting has been removed from other parts of Ealing including Ealing Broadway and Hanwell Broadway, the bunting in Greenford Broadway remains in place more than four months after the coronation.

One local shopping in the area told EALING.NEWS: “It’s faded and tatty. It just looks very bad and gives anyone a poor impression of the area. It’s bad enough having litter on the ground and the council ignoring it. The council don’t seem to care about the look of Greenford Broadway.”

Speaking to EALING.NEWS, an Ealing Council spokesperson said: “The council completely understands the importance of maintaining the appearance of the borough, and decorating our town centres with bunting for the coronation was part of that.”

The spokesperson added: “Unfortunately, there have been some delays with removing the bunting as our contractors experienced some staff shortages over the summer. During that time, we prioritised repairs and emergency response, but we have already commissioned the removal of the bunting, and will ensure this is completed as soon as possible.”
