Despite the rain, tens of thousands of people from Southall, across Ealing and outside the borough took to the streets of Southall on Sunday (6 November 2022) to watch and take part in the annual Nagar Kirtan (procession). The event celebrated the 553th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Sikh religion, Guru Nanek.
The special procession started at the Guru Nanak Road Gurdwara and finished at the Park Avenue Gurdwara.
As well as those who practice the Sikh religion, the annual celebration is open to all with many visitors watching the event and getting hot food and drinks that were given out to attendees.
Among those attending was Liberal Democrat Councillor Gary Malcolm, leader of the Opposition on Ealing Council who told EALING.NEWS: “Despite the bad weather people were in great spirits and there was lots of food made available for people who were enjoying that as things were building up as well.”
