A project run by St Mary’s Church in West Twyford has secured £10,000 in funding from Latimer, the development arm of Clarion Housing Group for its Open Doors initiative that provides support to low-income residents.
St Mary’s Church’s Open Doors is a volunteer run project providing food parcels and home equipment for those in need and the funding will help it further grow and serve its community for at least the next five years.
As well as supporting St Mary’s, Latimer said in a statement, it intends to help other local causes. “In total Latimer plans to invest £64,000 in several local projects that enhance the community where they are developing affordable housing on the historic Twyford Abbey site. The recently approved development will deliver over 300 new sustainable homes within a new low-rise garden community, as well as repair and reinstate the historic site’s original walled gardens and cottage.”
Richard Cook, group director of development at Clarion Housing Group said: “We firmly believe that housing goes beyond bricks and mortar and is about creating thriving communities. By supporting initiatives like St Mary’s Church’s Open Doors project, we can help make a difference for local people in Ealing and we’re proud to play our part.”
Rachel White, pastoral assistant at St Mary’s Church said: “This funding is a lifeline for us and the families we serve. We’re grateful to Latimer for recognising and supporting the value of the work we are doing.”
